January 12, 2015

Dear Members of Sharon UMC,
Lent is traditionally a time to look inward and reflect on where we are in our life of faith as we prepare ourselves for the celebration of Easter.  Lent 2015 will be a very special season at Sharon UMC.  You will have the opportunity to join in either a small group study or an adult Sunday school group to be part of our church-wide initiative, A Disciple’s Path.  We believe this study is a part of God’s vision for our church.  The Adult Faith Development Team has already piloted three small groups within the church and the response has been outstanding.

A Disciple’s Path is uniquely designed to aid you in taking the next steps in your discipleship journey and becoming dynamic and engaged followers of Jesus Christ.  Rooted in a Wesleyan understanding of our growth in God’s love and grace, you will experience spiritual disciplines expressed in our membership vows to uphold the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.  You will experience new spiritual practices, learn your unique spiritual gifts and become engaged in ministry with others.
The sermon series during Lent will align with the topics of the study, deepening the learning experience.  Small group studies will be offered at various times throughout the week as well as Sunday school opportunities, making it easy for you to find a convenient time to participate.

The objective of this program is to move the congregation to a deeper, richer life in Christ and to provide us with a common foundation as to what it means to be a disciple of Christ.  Following the Lenten church-wide initiative, the study will be used with future new members as part of our ongoing discipleship training process.

Our hope is to have 200 people signed up and ready to participate by the February 15th start date.  Will you take time to check out our website and sign up for one of the groups?  CLICK HERE to register for one of the small groups or to register as a participant in a Sunday school class. This will let us know that we can count on your participation.  All of our Sunday school classes are open to anyone who wants to participate on Sunday mornings.  If you’d like assistance with signing up for a group, help will be available in the Atrium after each service or call the church office.

Thank you for considering this opportunity as we seek to become the Spiritual Crossroads of SouthPark leading people to life rich in Christ through Real Relationships, Deep Discipleship and Selfless Service.
